Liz Hewitt's creative journey started at an early age, and she has been stitching in one form or another ever since.

Liz cannot imagine a life without cloth. Cloth is the silent companion of us all; used to protect, comfort and decorate. Working with fabric has become an essential part of her life: and when stitched and embellished it embodies her thoughts and emotions.

Liz draws her inspiration from the relationship between humanity and nature, in particular the customs and ways in which mankind relates to trees in everyday life. Trees have a powerful presence in the landscape and have always played a significant role in our lives. The beliefs of the Ancient Celts that trees can inspire, soothe and sustain us spiritually and physically have been a major influence on her creative life.

“Cloth is known for its capacity to absorb, record and reflect qualities of time and place, of maker and moment”
